EXPERT LECTURE ON “ADVANCED ELECTRIC MACHINES”


“Electrical science has revealed to us the true nature of light, has provided us with innumerable appliances and instruments of precision, and has thereby vastly added to the exactness of our knowledge”

 To enhance the knowledge and acquaintance to the motor technology of B. Tech 3rd, 4th year and M. Tech 1st and 2nd-year students,  Electrical Engineering Department, IET Lucknow (EES) organized an expert lecture on “Advanced Electric Machines” by the hon’ble expert speaker “Prof. Ajay Srivastava” who is an expert speaker from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India.During lecture students were informed about reluctance type motor, is a type of an electric motor that induces non-permanent magnetic poles on the ferromagnetic rotor generating torque through magnetic reluctance having no windings. Advanced Electric Machines(AEM), a spin-out from Newcastle University, has developed the HDSRM (high- density switched reluctance machine), which it claims is the most sustainable motor in the world.  The motor technology, which is designed for use in hybrid, range-extended and electric commercial vehicles. The society for years has served as an effective and efficient tool in moulding and enhancing the technical and practical capabilities of electrical engineers in the institute. This workshop was an incantation to acquaint and update students with modern industrial needs and requirements. The electrical students are very thankful to prof. Ajay Srivastava who provided us with advanced knowledge about motor technology that would be very utilitarian for us.

Trial by Trivia

 The Electrical Engineering Society conducted 'Trial by Trivia', a highly competitive and nerve-wracking quiz where all participants showed great vigor and enthusiasm. Carefully crafted with several genres and rounds, the quiz tested knowledge of sports, general affairs, technical knowledge, and other unique and interesting aspects. The quiz consisted of 8 teams that carefully navigated through 5 rounds. The winning team was bestowed with prizes worth Rs. 2000. The event was organized on 14th November 2022. A collective effort was put in by the members of the EES to celebrate Children's day and instill a child-like excitement in our second-year students. Our heartfelt gratitude to Assistant Professor Dr. Shweta, Assistant professor Jitendra Prajapati, Mr. Akash Kumar Singh, Ms Shashi Pandey, and Ms Babita Raj for having made themselves available to celebrate the special occasion with us.
