To enhance the knowledge and acquaintance to the motor technology of B. Tech 3rd, 4th year and M. Tech 1st and 2nd-year students, Electrical Engineering Department, IET Lucknow (EES) organized an expert lecture on “Advanced Electric Machines” by the hon’ble expert speaker “Prof. Ajay Srivastava” who is an expert speaker from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India.During lecture students were informed about reluctance type motor, is a type of an electric motor that induces non-permanent magnetic poles on the ferromagnetic rotor generating torque through magnetic reluctance having no windings. Advanced Electric Machines(AEM), a spin-out from Newcastle University, has developed the HDSRM (high- density switched reluctance machine), which it claims is the most …

L&T Training For 3rd Year Students

A three days industrial training was organized for the third year students by the department and society from 7th to 9th September 2019. The training was organized on the topic "Integrating Smart Switchgear" at the L&T Switchgear Training Centre in Lucknow. The students got to know about the Switchgear which is a combination of electrical connect and disconnect switches. It includes fuses or circuit breakers that are used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment. The switchboards play a big role in the distribution of power and management of distribution systems. One of the basic functions of switchgear is protection. It interrupts the short-circuiting and overload fault currents while maintaining service to unaffected circuits. The society thanks HOD Dr. Satyendra Singh sir for making arrangements for the training of third-year students at L&T. Great thanks to Mrs. Sabiha Ahmed(L&T staff) and her training staff.

Anniversary of LMRC

On the 6th Sep 2019, a visit was scheduled on the Anniversary of LMRC. 20 students of electrical third year batch went for the visit. The need for tunnel ventilation is critical for the life and safety of any person utilizing the metro, rail or road tunnels throughout the world. Typically the equipment is used for smoke extraction or control for the time it takes people to evacuate the tunnel under emergency conditions. They are also utilized to control exhaust fumes and to provide standard ventilation when required. The basic control using portal to portal,  shaft to shaft,  portal to shaft introduced. The LMRC team explained the function  of equipment like a draft,  CMC,  planum, Rockwool for insulation,  air-cooled chiller, dampers, attenuator in detail.

Expert Lecture on Career Challenges and Opportunities in UPSC

Electrical Engineering Society (EES) has successfully organised a seminar on Career Challenges and Opportunities in UPSC for Engineering Student, on 6 April. In the present scenario, the engineering students find themselves more vibrant than ever. An engineering student of today is highly likely to convert himself into an administrator or a  bureaucrat of tomorrow, so a span of opportunities are circling the engineers. Following the latest trend, we can easily infer, that UPSC produces its toppers and highest rankers from students of engineering cult more than students of art and humanities. Pondering over the above EES  decided to mark a session for those students who want to turn their career towards the civil services in future. EES invited Mr T.N. Kaushal as the guest speaker for the session. He has completed his term as Indian Foreign Services(IFS), and Indian Revenue Services (IRS) through very prestigious UPSC examination, previously he was selected for the post of  SDM throug…
